IMDb: 6.7
Director: Omung Kumar
Writers: Saiwyn Qadras (story), Ramendra Vasishth (dialogue)
Stars: Robin Das, Priyanka Chopra, Zachary Coffin
Storyline:
A chronicle of the life of Indian boxer Mary Kom, who went through
several hardships before audaciously accomplishing her ultimate dream.
It is a real shame that Mary Kom was not allowed to screen in theatres in Manipur. If anything, this one movie has brought Manipur to the rest of India in a positive way, even more than Mary Kom's actual achievements. Even more of a pity that the movie could not be shot on location in Manipur due to political reasons.
Priyanka Chopra has excelled herself in her portrayal of Mary Kom. All the actors were very good indeed, as were the visuals and the script. The music was not memorable but this movie does not depend on music to carry it along.
The movie has brought out well the misdeeds of our sports authorities and why this is a major reason that sports has not progressed as it ought to in our country with no dearth of talented sportspersons, but a surplus of greedy babus running the show.
This is a brilliant movie, a must watch for all. The flag unfurling at the end brings out a surge of pride in being India - and that is indeed a hallmark of a great movie.
